Before its separate incorporation as Wellfleet, Billingsgate was part of Eastham. Samuel Treat, the long-term pastor of this region, served both the English arrivals and the Nauset Natives. Understanding his life and ministry, we better appreciate this northern precinct, its English pioneers and its Native Americans, and the 300th anniversary this year of the First Congregational Church of Wellfleet.
